I used to be incredibly shy, and then I started dancing. It is such a confidence builder - small things like being put at the front for a show or being told that you're doing the step right make such a huge difference. I teach it now, and you can see the difference between the kids who wouldn't leave their parents on the first day to the ones who are up there, having the time of their lives a few weeks later. Dancing can help them learn how to interact with other kids who are on the same boat, which will help them to make friends and settle in easier at a new school or in a new environment.
