Should I be a music teacher or a composer?

I'm a freshman this year at Belmont University, in Nashville, TN. I auditioned to be part of the music program, and I was accepted. I selected music education as my major, but I'm really considering switching to composition.

What I'm asking for I guess is why YOU would choose one or the other...the pros and cons y'all see with either option. I'm writing a paper about this dilemma, and I'm just looking for some outside views (don't worry, you're phrases will be cited!)

i think it all comes down to whether or not you work well with others. if you want to help people and you can easily get along with them, then being a teacher could be a very rewarding occupation. if you prefer to work alone, and you want to write your own music, then maybe being a composer would be a better job for you! Good luck with your choice and future career! :]
