Can love make you give up meat? - Video

I found this video with several different viewpoints on eating meat. It's pretty interesting to watch the little kids regurgitate what their parents told them.

When a vegetarian was asked, "Why do you think people still eat meat?" She said, "Because they don't care. Or they just don't know the truth."

I say, they do know, it's just easier to stay the way you are. Change takes work, and some people already know they don't have the strength to change. Too bad because that decision is costly, for them and the animals.

I agree with the girl who says "they just dont know," because I am one of those people.

I grew up eating meat because that was how I was raised and I honestly didn't know any better. It wasn't until I became an adult that I even heard about vegetarians. I still never knew exactly what eating meat meant. It has only been recently that it has really sunk in -- what it means to eat meat. I started to research online and have just started to learn of the cruelty that animals endure so that I can eat meat. I am 35 years old and I have never been exposed to information about this type of animal cruelty. I thought animal cruelty was just the crazy neighborhood boy who shot cats and dogs with his slingshot or gun. That tore me up. I would sob everytime I saw these stories. I am amazed to think that at my age I am just now hearing about the cruelty that animals endure to become our food.

So, speaking from my own experiences, I think that many people are like me and are never challenged to think outside the box of how they were raised. I don't think that most people understand the cruelty and then choose to continue eating meat anyway. Sure there are some, but I believe there are many more that don't. I think that if people could be made aware of the cruelty, many would choose to become vegitarian.

As I've done more research it disappoints me to see the way that vegetarians talk about meat eaters - as if they are all intentional killers. I think that if we could educate these people in a non-confrontational way, they would listen. If I were walking down the street and were confronted by an obnoxious person asking me if I would kill animals to eat them I would be put off and would walk away from this person. Nobody wants to be controlled and told what to do. I think all we can do is educate, educate, educate and then allow people to make their own decisions. With non-accusing, non-confrontational awareness, people will eventually welcome the change.

I understand what you are saying. I think the aggression comes from frustration veggies have of meat-eaters apathy about the whole situation. Personally, I get a little angry on here, but when I talk to my friends and family, I am very nice about it.

People come here because they are obviously searching 'vegan' or 'vegetarian' in the search engines. They arrive here for the truth, unfiltered.

I know many activists that take a very kind approach when speaking. Militant-style activism is counterproductive. Personal blogging affords me the ability to speak my mind. I think people get what I'm trying to say, with a little added humor and sarcasm.

At the end of the day, people have to be responsible for their actions, whether they've been oblivious or not. Vegans and Vegetarians are just tired of the excuses, but everyone deserves a chance to heard and understood. Take care.

And to be honest, it shouldn't matter whether the animals suffer or not, they still die, which in my opinion, is the main problem. Every human being knows that the meat on their plate was once alive but is now dead.

That's something everyone does know.
