Norfolk, Va. -- Although he has become the face of the worldwide fight against global warming, Al Gore has so far resisted facing one "inconvenient truth": The meat industry is the number one source of greenhouse-gas emissions, and the former vice president's a-steak-or-more-a-day habit isn't helping. That's why PETA has launched a new campaign just in time for Earth Day called OffsetAlGore.com to counter the damage to the planet that Gore's meat-laden diet is causing by encouraging people to take a pledge to go vegetarian for 30 days. That's enough time to prevent the release of more than 270 pounds of carbon dioxide into the Earth's atmosphere, preventing more pollution than if a person left his or her car at home every weekday for 30 days.
"Visitors to OffsetAlGore.com can undo some of the damage that Al Gore is doing to the environment every time he sits down to a steak," says PETA Vice President Bruce Friedrich. "Mr. Gore's own addiction to meat is adding to the very crisis he's devoting his life to stopping."

I've never hidden my feelings towards Al Gore and his hypocrisy. Yesterday, I had a conversation with someone who believes that Global Warming is a scam, and that humans cannot possibly hurt the Earth, and it is resilient to anything we could ever do. It's that kind of attitude that keeps the environmentalists busy, because you have to undo the ignorance before you can implant wisdom. It's tiring but we don't have a choice.
