OffsetAlGore.com
Norfolk, Va. -- Although he has become the face of the worldwide fight against global warming, Al Gore has so far resisted facing one "inconvenient truth": The meat industry is the number one source of greenhouse-gas emissions, and the former vice president's a-steak-or-more-a-day habit isn't helping. That's why PETA has launched a new campaign just in time for Earth Day called OffsetAlGore.com to counter the damage to the planet that Gore's meat-laden diet is causing by encouraging people to take a pledge to go vegetarian for 30 days. That's enough time to prevent the release of more than 270 pounds of carbon dioxide into the Earth's atmosphere, preventing more pollution than if a person left his or her car at home every weekday for 30 days.
"Visitors to OffsetAlGore.com can undo some of the damage that Al Gore is doing to the environment every time he sits down to a steak," says PETA Vice President Bruce Friedrich. "Mr. Gore's own addiction to meat is adding to the very crisis he's devoting his life to stopping."

I've never hidden my feelings towards Al Gore and his hypocrisy. Yesterday, I had a conversation with someone who believes that Global Warming is a scam, and that humans cannot possibly hurt the Earth, and it is resilient to anything we could ever do. It's that kind of attitude that keeps the environmentalists busy, because you have to undo the ignorance before you can implant wisdom. It's tiring but we don't have a choice.

Vegans & Vegetarians @ Live Earth - AFI
AFI is such a very good popular youth rock group (moreso that Duran Duran of the 80's) go to www.myspace.com/AFI to listen (Love Like Winter is a great song) and see how many diehard fans they have! They are fairly reserved, but stating that they are all Vegetarian and the lead singer has been Vegan for 10 years live in front of millions was sooo important. Oh yeah the lead signer was voted sexiest veggie by peta2 this year. (Source)

Global Warming can start WARS!
LiveScience Staff Writer
LiveScience.com
Mon Jul 9, 12:30 PM ET
Food and water shortages fueled in the future by global warming could spur conflicts and even wars over these essential resources, the authors of a new study warn.
History suggests the controversial idea might be on track.
Changes in climate, such as temperature and rainfall, can significantly alter the availability of crops, livestock and drinking water. Resource shortages could, in turn, prompt people to turn to war to get what they need to survive, several experts have warned.
A new study, detailed in the August 2007 issue of the journal Human Ecology, suggests this was the case in the past. The authors reviewed 899 wars fought in China between 1000 and 1911 and found a correlation between the frequency of warfare and records of temperature changes.
“It was the oscillations of agricultural production brought by long-term climate change that drove China’s historical war-peace cycles,” wrote lead author David Zhang of the University of Hong Kong.

Going green to gain greenbacks
QUINCY, Mass. – Tara Withington, with her two young sons in tow, combs the aisles of Hannaford Bros. Co. supermarket for what she deems healthy enough to feed her family. Besides reading ingredients and studying her fruit for bruises, Withington says she needs a guarantee the organic foods she buys are kept far, far away from the store’s conventional products
“I need to know it’s natural and I’m not giving them chemicals,” said Withington, 33, of Milton, playfully tapping her 1-year-old son’s hand as he reached out of his shopping cart seat for a jar of pickles. “I’m trying to keep them healthy, and this reassures me that they are not coming into contact with anything I don’t want them to.”
Chasing the success of Whole Foods Market Inc., and the announcement last year that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. would double its organic products, several regional grocers are going deeper into the market with a government-backed seal as “certified organic retailers.” In recent years, supermarket chains such as The Kroger Co., Lund Food Holdings Inc. and now Maine-based Hannaford represent a growing number securing the certification.
While organic foods are certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as free of pesticides and hormones, this designation says the retailer will comply with handling standards nearly as meticulous as those for kosher or vegan foods.[Source]

Another Letter from Al Gore
(Notice: Not one word about veganism or vegetarianism. Such a waste of resources. He could really do some good if he educated himself. What would be awesome is if someone hijacked these concerts with a vegetarian blimp or a streaker. I'd pay to see THAT!)
I PLEDGE:
1. To demand that my country join an international treaty within the next 2 years that cuts global warming pollution by 90% in developed countries and by more than half worldwide in time for the next generation to inherit a healthy earth;
2. To take personal action to help solve the climate crisis by reducing my own CO2 pollution as much as I can and offsetting the rest to become "carbon neutral;"
3. To fight for a moratorium on the construction of any new generating facility that burns coal without the capacity to safely trap and store the CO2;
4. To work for a dramatic increase in the energy efficiency of my home, workplace, school, place of worship, and means of transportation;
5. To fight for laws and policies that expand the use of renewable energy sources and reduce dependence on oil and coal;
6. To plant new trees and to join with others in preserving and protecting forests; and,
7. To buy from businesses and support leaders who share my commitment to solving the climate crisis and building a sustainable, just, and prosperous world for the 21st century.

Al Gore Just Wrote Me A Letter
Not just to me ... anybody unfortunate enough to be on his mailing list. The answer is NO AL! I will not host a Live Earth Party because me and my friends have contacted you about adding veganism to your agenda. You've ignored us because your beef industry friends will oust you if you tell the truth. Any environmentalist that doesn't mention the livestock trade is clueless!
Sure, turn off your cell phones and unplug your computers. Let's see how long that lasts. Tell people to stop having so many kids and stop eating meat, then I'll host a party. Until then, sell those tickets to your "rock show" and I'll see you in 20 years. You'll probably be as dark as me by then, if the sun hasn't turned us into "beef" jerky.L8A ;-)

[Letter from Al]
On July 7, more than 2 billion people will join together to watch the Live Earth concerts and demonstrate to our leaders that the time has come to solve the climate crisis.
Wherever you are that day, you can be part of the action. At events around the world, we are going to convert the potential energy of Live Earth into a global campaign. In thousands of homes, people will invite their friends and neighbors to watch the concerts and join the movement to solve the climate crisis.
NBC will be televising Live Earth (and even more extensive coverage will be available live on MSN) so turning your house into a Live Earth venue is easy. Will you commit to organize a Live Earth house party on July 7th? The parties will be fun and they'll make a difference.

7.7.07 will be the one opportunity we have to bring hundreds of millions of new people into our campaign. We cannot let it slip by.
If you host a Live Earth Party, you'll have access to a special video I’ve made urging people to take action. Together, I know we can convince everyone attending these parties to get involved. In a few short hours, you and your friends can watch the concert, take action and at the end, upload a photo from your event that will be accessible to others taking part throughout the world. Through these parties, we can reach more people than ever before and build a truly global movement to solve the climate crisis.
Holding a Live Earth party is easy and we will have all the tools you need to make your party a success.
Sign up as a party host by visiting:
http://joinliveearth.org/hellno
Live Earth will be a unique moment when the uninterrupted and undivided attention of the world will be focused on the climate crisis. I need your help to really make it count.
Thank you,

Global Warming is Big Bu$$iness!!!!
Be cool: Change the world, make a profit
Call it a hedge fund with a conscience? Global Cool is using star power and rock concerts to spread its message on global warming — and making a return for its investors. In fact, it's a very serious investment fund, says Martin Waller.

This Is Why I'm A Vegan!!!
If you can watch this video without tears rolling down your face, keep doing what you're doing. I think I must've been an animal in my previous life, because whenever I see animals suffer, it feels so personal and present. Wake up and realize what we're doing to ourselves. Stop being apathetic. Don't call yourself an environmentalist, if you won't take Earth and all its beings into consideration. Stop being a HYPOCRITE!!! Save your publicity and press releases and documentaries about global warming, if you won't consider the human hand in animal suffering and the bad karma that is boomeranging itself back to us. Save your TIME AND MONEY and attach it to something meaningful. Live Earth is nothing without the mention of animal suffering. It's just a band-aid that will blow off if we don't open our eyes to the truth. Humans, as a whole, are ruining this planet. The ignorants are running the country, looking the other way, hiding their hands, playing dumb, doing the minimum, ... wake up ... PLEASE!

Overpopulation & Childbirth
- Recycle newspaper, plastics, cans, bottles, electronics. Less production of non-recyclable materials means less landfill usage. More children means more waste products.
- Have 2 children or less. Adopt in the future. There are hundreds of thousands of orphans over the age of 2 that need homes. You will love them just as much as your own.
- Feed yourself and your baby a plant-based diet. Eating this way reduces the number of livestock reproduction, therefore reducing carbon-emitting animal waste and reduction of water usage to maintain these animals before slaughter.
- Donate food, clothing, books, shoes, working electronics to charity. Less clutter in your home means you can buy a smaller home, which uses less energy and saves money.
- Use birth control, date less, dress conservatively, stay home more. Unplanned pregnancy is due to reckless behavior, boredom, lack of sex education, peer pressure and alcohol.
- Don't wear wool, leather, or any animal products. If we don't buy these products they disappear from the market. These products promote the livestock trade which is polluting our air and killing us slowly through cancer, obesity and a series of other health problems. Support the growing vegan fashion industry.
- Conserve water, energy, gas, and food (eat less). More children means more use of natural resources. There isn't enough to go around for your children's children.
- Car pool, drive less, ride bikes, roller skate, run, walk, exercise, yoga. More children means more emissions, more cars and air pollution. Doing activities with your children keeps them out of gangs, bad friendships and looking for love in the wrong places.
- Watch less TV, read more, support positive local musicians, and vegan restaurants. The airwaves are filled with the promotion of sex, drugs, alcohol and diversions from education. Dumbed down kids make dumbed down adults. Local musicians need your support more than the mainstream artists, which are commercialized and have no remorse for the suggestive lyrics or their consequences. Local groups are usually trying to make an honest living, and have been ignored by the giants who only sign acts who can be sold to the lower-educated masses.
- Use cloth diapers, eco-friendly products, buy less stuff. Less stuff means more money to support the kids you have, which means less welfare, less homelessness, less stress, more retirement money, more security in everyone's future.
Adopting a child brings good karma and reduces the population. More birth control reduces the number of children to be adopted. Unadopted children suffer greatly and need a family. Foster care is not always a safe environment.
Hope this doesn't offend anyone ... but ... gotta be said. ;-)
